I lack… Focus.

I admit it. I’ve been having a hard time concentrating on my writing for the past few days. Last week, I had a mini writing retreat from Monday afternoon through Thursday morning. I accomplished a lot in those three days, but I’ve been struggling to get back into the swing of things now that I’m home.

So, it’s time to pull out some of my secret weapons. (Okay, they’re not that secret, but they work for me.)

My favorites are: Self Control and Rescue Time.

Self Control gives me the ability to block a list of websites for a set period of time. On my list I have Facebook, Amazon, Big Fish Games, Kboards, and www.2048game.com. They’re my big time wasters.

Rescue Time tracks how I spend my time on the computer. I can set goals and assign different items to categories.

Rescue Time will work on Windows computers too. However, Self Control is a Mac only product. The webpage for SelfControl recommends Cold Turkey for Windows users. I haven’t used it, so I don’t know if it’s a good product or not.

How do you keep yourself on track? Do you have special apps?
